Zhaina is originally from Pavlodar in Kazakhstan and she is now pursuing a BSc in Global Engineering, which is a joint program between CentraleSupélec in Gif-sur-Yvette, France, and McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In addition to volunteering work with UNICEF in her native country, Zhaina has also participated in the Nestle FootTech Challenge in Singapore, and did several research internships both in academia and in industry in France. She joined our group after secuding a fellowship within the scope of the RISE program of the DAAD. Zhaina is currently studying how environmental conditions shape seed development in the model species Arabidopsis thaliana.
