Wojciech (aka Wojtek) is originally from Poland and studied Biotechnology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. He did his BSc thesis in the lab of Prof. Ryszard Koczura and then his MSc with Prof. Piotr Ziolkowski. After graduating with honors, Wojtek continued his work in the Laboratory of Genome Biology, under the supervision of Prof. Ziolkowski. During his PhD he studied crossing-over and epigenetics during meiosis, and he successfuly defended his thesis in May 2025.
A few months later, Wojtek moved across the border to Germany and joined our lab at MPI-MP. He now switched model systems from Arabidopsis to dandelion, which he is using to understand the genetic and epigenetic regulation of apomixis.
